About
Balmoral Park Racetrack is a one-mile harness racing track in Crete, Illinois, located along Route 394 about 38 miles from downtown Chicago. The site opened in 1926 as Lincoln Fields, was acquired by the Balmoral Jockey Club in 1955 and renamed Balmoral Park, then became an exclusively harness racing facility in 1991. The current one-mile oval was added in 1989 and the grandstand seats 8,281 with an additional 2,000-capacity clubhouse. Live racing operations have since been discontinued at the Crete venue.
