About

Belmont Park is a Thoroughbred horse racetrack in Elmont, New York, just east of the New York City line, owned and operated by the New York Racing Association. Opened on May 4, 1905, it hosts the Belmont Stakes, the third leg of the American Triple Crown. The 1.5-mile dirt main track, nicknamed Big Sandy, sits on a 430-acre racing, training and barn complex on the Hempstead Plains.
