About
Beulah Park was the first thoroughbred racetrack in Ohio, opening in Grove City near Columbus in 1923 and operating live thoroughbred meets from October to early May. The track grew from a half-mile oval at opening to a three-quarter-mile track in 1935 and a one-mile oval in 1937. Beulah Park led Ohio in adopting Kentucky Derby simulcast wagering in 1983 and telephone betting via Ohio TAB in 1993. After Penn National Gaming relocated the racing license to Austintown in 2013, the 220-acre site was redeveloped into a residential community starting in 2021.
