About
Blue Ribbon Downs was a horse racing track in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, founded by Bill Hedge on land purchased in 1960. The track became a recognized American Quarter Horse Association proving ground in 1963 and held its first pari-mutuel race on August 30, 1984 after Oklahoma legalized betting. In 2005 it became Oklahoma's first racino, adding more than 200 gaming machines. The Choctaw Nation purchased the property in 2003 and closed the track in 2009; Cherokee Nation Entertainment acquired the assets, and the grandstands were demolished in 2022.
