About
The Boardwalk Hotel and Casino was a Las Vegas Strip property that originated as a 138-room Holiday Inn in 1966 at 3740 South Las Vegas Boulevard. It became the Viscount Hotel in 1985 and was rebranded as the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino in February 1989, with a carnival-themed facade added in 1995. MGM purchased the property and announced CityCenter plans in November 2004; the Boardwalk closed on January 9, 2006. The main hotel tower was imploded by Controlled Demolition on May 9, 2006 and the site is now occupied by the Aria and Waldorf Astoria.
