Casino Cosmopol Gothenburg
About
Casino Cosmopol Gothenburg was a state-owned land-based casino on Packhusplatsen 7 in central Gothenburg, Sweden, occupying a 19th-century former customs house overlooking the harbour. Operated by Svenska Spel, the venue was part of the Casino Cosmopol monopoly on brick-and-mortar casinos in Sweden and offered around 213 slot machines and 27 live tables for blackjack, baccarat, poker, and roulette, alongside two restaurants, two bars, and a regular entertainment programme. The Gothenburg branch closed permanently on 24 February 2024 amid declining profitability and a regulatory shift away from public-monopoly land-based gaming. Sister venues in Stockholm and Malmo had already closed earlier, leaving Sundsvall as the final remaining location.
