It was first established as the McPherson Casino and was rebranded as Gold Dust Casino in 1994 when the permanent site opened. In 2010 the property officially changed its name to Apex Casino following a 5 million dollar redesign, and it was subsequently acquired by Century Casinos for 27.9 million dollars.
