About
Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing track in central Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, with a pear-shaped 2,800 metre turf circuit complemented by a 2,000 metre all-weather Polytrack added inside the course in 2014. Greyville celebrated its centenary in 1996 and the track stages South Africa's premier race, the Hollywoodbets Durban July Handicap, run on the first Saturday of July annually since 1897, plus the World Pool Gold Cup in August. The course infield houses the Royal Durban Golf Club's championship 18-hole course. The venue staged South Africa's first Sunday racing meeting in February 1996 and became the first track to race under floodlights.
