About
Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse, founded in 1881 at Kenilworth in Cape Town by the South African Turf Club, is the oldest horse racing track in South Africa, featuring both inner and outer grass courses. Marquee race days include the L'Ormarins Queen's Plate and the Sun Met (formerly the Cape Metropolitan Stakes), with the Queen's Plate listed among the world's top five race days. The infield contains the 52-hectare Kenilworth Racecourse Conservation Area established in 1985, a seasonal wetland protecting endangered Cape Flats sand fynbos. The site also accommodates a business park hosting the headquarters of Pick 'n Pay Stores Limited and added new conference and recreational facilities in 2024.
