About
Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse is a thoroughbred horse racing venue in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, established as the City Sporting Club in 1886 and located around 75 km from Durban. The right-handed oval is approximately 2,300 metres in circumference with a banked turn into a 550 metre run-in, plus a separate 1,200 metre straight course. Scottsville hosted the first sponsored race in South African history with the Gilbey's Stakes in 1962 and has been home to feature events including the South African Fillies' Guineas, Sprint and Oaks. The Golden Horse Casino with 22 tables and 450 slot machines is co-located at the racecourse, and the venue served as a filming location for the 2005 film Racing Stripes.
