About
Casino Mauresque was a 19th-century land-based casino in Arcachon, France, designed by architect Paul Regnauld and opened in 1863 as part of the Pereire brothers' resort development. The municipality of Arcachon acquired the property in 1879 after disappointing returns under the Midi Railway Company. Repeated bankruptcies, war-time hospital use, and competition from the Casino de la Plage led to its decline before the building was destroyed by fire on 18 January 1977 and subsequently demolished. The site is now a public lawn within Parc Mauresque; the casino is no longer operational.
