The Mapes Hotel was a twelve-story Art Deco hotel and casino in downtown Reno, Nevada that opened in 1947 as the first post-war skyscraper in the western United States. It served as an early prototype for modern Nevada hotel casinos and hosted many celebrities during its operating years. The property closed in 1982 due to financial difficulties and was demolished in 2000. Historical gaming operations were licensed by Nevada state authorities.
