About

Palace Casino in Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a historical casino building designed by architect Eduardo Pederneiras and inaugurated in 1931 as part of a luxury thermal-spa resort complex alongside the Palace Hotel and Thermas Antônio Carlos. During its Belle Époque heyday it hosted Carmen Miranda, Dalva de Oliveira, Grande Otelo, and international orchestras across the Grand Salon, Blue Salon gaming room, and the Palace Grill. A 1944 fire damaged the venue and Brazil's 1946 federal gambling ban ended casino operations permanently. The building is municipally listed as historical heritage and has been undergoing restoration since 2009 as a cultural venue.
