Atlantic City Mayor Sees Real Estate ‘Renaissance’ Ahead for Casino Hub

Atlantic City’s mayor says the casino town is poised for a real estate revival even as other Jersey Shore communities become unaffordable.

Atlantic City Mayor Sees Real Estate ‘Renaissance’ Ahead for Casino Hub

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small Sr. says the casino hub is primed for a real estate “renaissance,” positioning the city as an unexpected bright spot in New Jersey’s coastal property market. His comments come as many traditional shore towns have become increasingly unaffordable for middle-class buyers.

While destinations like Stone Harbor and Sea Isle City have long evoked the classic beach-town image, Atlantic City has struggled with a different reputation. Yet that perception gap may now be working in the city’s favor, with real estate prices remaining notably lower than in other Jersey Shore communities.

According to the mayor’s assessment, buyers looking for a coastal home in New Jersey would do well to consider Atlantic City as an alternative to pricier shoreline locales. The city’s casino-driven economy and ample housing stock could offer opportunities that other shore towns no longer provide.

Persistent concerns about the city’s broader challenges have not been fully resolved, however. Those issues have historically weighed on property values and buyer confidence, and their lingering presence remains part of the local real estate picture.

Even so, Small’s optimistic outlook suggests a shift in how Atlantic City views its residential potential. If that renaissance materializes, it would mark a notable turnaround for a city long defined by its gaming industry rather than its housing market.
