Macau Casino Revenue Falls for Fifth Straight Month in October
Macau's casino gross gaming revenue dropped 10% year-on-year to MOP21.68 billion in October 2026, despite Golden Week and NBA events.

Macau's casino industry recorded its fifth consecutive month of year-over-year revenue decline in October 2026, according to data released by the city's gaming regulator on November 1. The six licensed casino operators generated gross gaming revenue (GGR) of MOP21.68 billion (US$2.68 billion) for the month.
That figure represents a 10% decrease compared to October 2025, a drop of approximately MOP2.4 billion (US$298 million). The ongoing slump comes despite the boost typically provided by China's Golden Week holiday period and the NBA China Games, which were held in Macau during the month.
The October performance extends a troubling trend for the world's largest gambling hub, which has seen GGR fall year-over-year each month since June 2026. Analysts had hoped that the Golden Week holiday, which runs from October 1 to 7, would help reverse the slide, but the data suggests the recovery remains elusive.
The regulator's report did not provide a breakdown by operator or segment. However, industry observers note that broader economic headwinds in China, including slower growth and tighter capital controls, continue to weigh on high-roller spending and mass-market visitation.
Despite the negative year-over-year comparison, October's GGR was slightly higher than September 2026's total of MOP20.5 billion, indicating some month-on-month improvement. Whether this signals a bottoming out or merely a temporary blip remains uncertain as the industry heads into the typically slower winter months.
