Sands CEO Patrick Dumont Takes Control of Dallas Mavericks Stake

Patrick Dumont, Chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, has taken over the family’s 73% ownership stake in the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. The transfer occurred in October, according to a report by ESPN.

The stake was previously held by Miriam Adelson, the widow of casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. She transferred the ownership position to Dumont and her daughter, Sivan Ochshorn. Dumont is married to Adelson’s daughter.

Miriam Adelson inherited control of Las Vegas Sands after Sheldon Adelson’s death in 2021. The family has been active in sports investment, having purchased the Mavericks in late 2023 for a reported $3.5 billion valuation.

The move places Dumont as the de facto controlling owner of the franchise. He continues to lead the global casino operator while expanding the family’s sports portfolio.

No further details about the transfer terms or Dumont’s long-term plans for the Mavericks have been disclosed. The NBA has not yet commented on the ownership change.
