NCAA Signs On to Program Fighting Bettor Harassment in College Sports

The NCAA joins an integrity initiative from IC360 and Signify Group to curb online abuse from sports bettors.

NCAA Signs On to Program Fighting Bettor Harassment in College Sports

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has signed on to the Bad Actor Program, an initiative created by sports integrity and data intelligence firms IC360 and Signify Group. The program is designed to identify and address online abuse targeting participants in college athletics.

NCAA President Charlie Baker stated that online harassment from sports bettors directed at student-athletes, coaches, and referees remains a widespread issue across college sports. The program aims to monitor and flag abusive behavior on digital platforms and coordinate with relevant authorities.

The Bad Actor Program uses technology to track threats, hate speech, and other forms of harassment linked to betting activity. Both IC360 and Signify Group specialize in integrity monitoring and have worked with other sports organizations to combat similar issues.

The NCAA’s participation comes amid the rapid expansion of legal sports betting across the United States, which has increased the volume of wagers on college events. The organization has previously voiced concerns about the pressures betting places on amateur athletes and officials.
